2013 Colts Report

A much better season this year in terms of weather which saw the vast majority of matches played.

All the boys and girls performed to their best ability and behaved impeccably well throughout the season and this should be applauded.

We have some seriously good players coming through the colts system, notably in the U13 and U15 age groups, and this can only be good for us as a club. More and more boys are now playing regular adult cricket and it’s great to see them not only playing at this level, but also in the sides through their own ability and not always just to make the numbers up.

Special thanks must once again go to the parents who help out week in week out and the coaches and managers, in particular, Barrie Knife, Kevin Shepherd and David Brown, who give their time up to coach the children and organise matches and transport.

To build on what we have as a colts system, and in light of the constant demands from our governing body to maintain Clubmark accreditation and Focus Club status, a much more positive and inclusive approach must be adopted and we need coaches and parents to step up and take ownership and responsibility towards age group teams, to continue to allow Middlesex Cricket Board and parents to consider us as a club that is both well organised and providing the best possible opportunities for our colts.
