Harefield Cricket Club - Colts Report - 2010

Although there was very little silverware to collect this season, the colt's performed to the best of their ability. Seriously hampered by school matches clashing with league matches, it was always going to be difficult to field strong sides in the U15 and U17 age groups.
Having witnessed some of the matches and read the reports from the 3's, 4's and Sunday Captains, it is a credit to everyone involved how these kids have progressed their game and matured to the levels that they have achieved. The encouragement and support from the likes of Craig Collett, Simon Ogden, Dougie King and other senior players deserves a great deal of respect and gratitude.
The success of all senior sides this season would not have happened without the colt's system that we have in place at the club. Through my dealings with Middlesex I can bear witness that it is widely acknowledged that we are a club held up across the county as an example of best practice, and all players, coaches, team managers and officials should take credit for that.
To continue with this story of success, we must continue to encourage boys and girls of all ages and abilities to take advantage of what we have to offer at Harefield, and this can only be done through the dedicated efforts of our coaches and team managers.
Custer does a fine job in welcoming the under 9's on a Sunday morning and teaching and developing the cricket skills and behaviour required to prepare them for league cricket. After that it is the responsibility of all of our qualified coaches and team managers to further develop these skills. We now have 13 qualified coaches at Harefield with 4 more taking the Coach Award course this Autumn.
To enable us to continue to produce talented young cricketers that want to stay at Harefield, all coaches will need to make themselves available whenever possible with training and taking teams for matches both home and away.
I would like to thank the parents who always make themselves available to ferry the kids to the away matches, and can assure you that as from next season, teams will be selected on the condition that all parents will be responsible for ensuring that their own children get to the away venues.
To conlude I would just like to thank the team managers and coaches for their dedication this season, and to congratulate and thank the children for their efforts, behaviour and committment throughout this season, you are all a credit to your parents and the club.
