4TH XI Annual Report 2012
This is a difficult report to write as the 2012 season was ruined by the bad weather and also that i only played in 2 matches.
I would firstly like to thank Mike Christelow and Mark Petley for captaining the side in my absence and also thank all those that played for the 4th XI this season.
The most encouraging aspect of the season has been seeing so many colts starting to play senior cricket. The likes of Freddie Lavers,Jonny Dawson,Brett Moore,Josh Brazier,Calum Woodcock,Sam Beacham and Tom McLeod amongst others have performed really well and will only improve. We all hope to see these players continue to play next season and beyond.
There were some notable performances with Ryan Finch taking 6 wickets at Slough on the opening day to win the game and get on the honours board for the first time and then move up to the 3rd XI and perform very well.
Mike Christelow also scored 90 in the same game and went on to win the batting trophy. Craig Saunders and Berhan Mirza both scored 80's to win at Princes Risborough.
The wickets were shared around with Neil Parnell taking 10 in total to win the bowling award.
It proved difficult on a number of occasions to get 11 players out, thank you to all the senior players who stepped up to fill these spots.
The 4th team has now been in existence for 4 years and has been a great success, we now need to keep up the commitment and ensure it continues.
Thank you to Steve and Tracey for the great teas and all round help, thanks to the groundsmen for the wickets and to Lyn Andrews for scoring and everyone else who makes this team work.
After 4 seasons as skipper i will now be stepping down and wish the next captain every success,i have enjoyed the experience hugely, i have played with some good friends and witnessed what i hope to be the future of our club.
